I've been lurking around here awhile. Sorry I haven't offered alot of input. Not alot of experience...just figuring things out as I go. I have received a wealth of info here though and would like to thank everyone for sharing their knowledge. I especially enjoy the galleries so I thought I would try to put a few pictures up. The old truck aint fancy but she has character (alot like the wife) Thanks
"The old truck aint fancy but she has character (alot like the wife)"
There's a lot to be said for casual comfort though, huh?! (I'm trying to help you dig out of the hole you got yourself into - if your wife ever sees this - lol)
Great pictures of your truck. I took 5 layers of paint off my '48 a few years ago so I know what you're going thru. It's looking good - keep after it and you'll be on the road before........uh...... half the guys on this forum!
Nice to see another 56! Looks like a very fun project. No apoliges needed here, as you have to learn before you teach and I think I speak for the board here when I say were glad our input helps. Stick around, at least offer us some humor Best of the holiday's, -4speed
I have to ask was the frame shortened or were the axles replaced with 3/4 ton, or did it come that way with the short box bed.....
Good eye! The frame was shortened by previous owner. I liked the idea of the short bed 250, but p/o simply cut the end off which is causing me a few problems. However, I think I can work around it. Appreciate your response too!
nice gallery and i am jealous you are farther along than i am
i do have a quick question for you on the passenger side cowl panel did you get a full replacement piece or just a partial one? i really cant tell in the pic and if its a full one does it have the louvers for the heater in it?

thanks for any info you can give me
Fordgo...
I had to get the full replacement and all I could find was solid (no louvers). The heater still put out but admittingly I didn't run it much. Probably going to have to provide some sort of fresh air intake.
did ya get it from mid-fifty? i got the drivers full side panel from them and it took a fair amount of persuasion to get it to fit properly plus it had two holes in it that i had to fill (radio antenna mount?) your truck is looking good guess you are shameing me into the garage to finish replacing the floor boards now that xmas shopping is all done
Got mine from ***. Passenger side went in easy. Drivers side was a real pain. Both my cowls had holes in them which I had to patch. They didn't show the holes in them in the catalog. Not sure what they were for. I've been able to get a little bit done the last couple months. Some time off work for the holidays and wth the weather getting colder I can't do anything else outside ( at least that is the excuse I use.... and it has worked so far ) Take care
