Question keep it simple

I am looking to by a new, 2003 F250 PSD. I have looked at a couple of the other posts, and have a question. Am I correct in my assumption that an '03 PSD built after May, has different injectors than pre-May engines? And that they are not experiencing the same problems/worries? Any insite is appreciated.

Hey Scootertrash, take a couple hours & read all the posts (try to weed out the bs). I don't think the injecters are the only issue on the '03. Just my opinion but you might want to wait a year or two. I think ford is still doing their home work on this one. I'm sure get some heat for this post but oh well.

I have one with the bad injectors, but have never had a problem. Now at ~7000 miles.

It all boils down to one question..... Are you willing to accept the known risk?

You can read until you're blind and nothing will change. You may get a good one and you may get a .... well I just don't want to say it.

I took your cautious approach and waited for a 2004 and to be honest it was a mistake. I'm so dissatisfied right now I don't even know how to describe it. I have a July build 2004 w/ '03 engine. Problems thus far include the bell-housing leak, bad injector, two other oil leaks that are being diagnosed right now, wandering steering, and since the Oct. Flash my fuel mileage is down 10-15%, it has a vibration at idle and through acceleration, it's as noisy as my old 7.3L, and it won't even press me into the seat anymore. The dealer says these conditions are normal but I know how this truck performed before the Oct. flash and this isn't even close. I'd rather have my '97 7.3L back and I mean that.

I'm not trying to be harsh just speaking the truth but like I said you have to understand that you may be faced with the same situation. Ford doesn't seem to be solving the problems, just creating more. Today makes at least ten days of shop time for me with less than 6000 miles. Absolutely unexcusable for a diesel engine marketed for durability.

Good Luck.
