4wd swap

I asked last week about the effort involved in swapping out engine, tranny, drivetrain between gasser and psd. I got good answers and have been looking hard again for a good donor psd. I may have exactly the truck I need, it is already *without* engine and tranny . My new question is this; If I am putting my late 99 psd (2wd) and tranny into an 03 donor, will the tranny blt right to the transfer case from one year to another and from 2 to 4wd?
Thanks as always, this forum is the best.

The transmissions are different, the 2wd has the splines on the output shaft to directly accept the drivehaft. The 4wd I believe goes directly into the transfer case. Everything else should be as simple as plug and play after that.

Great, thanks. But both 4r100 right? So if I change out do you know if the output shaft can be changed?? or is there something else not too complicated that can be done?
Thanks much.

If you want to tear down the entire transmission to change it. So your going from your truck being 2wd to a 4x4 donor truck correct?

Yes, that is the idea.... I was really hoping not to have to do that though. So are you saying the whole drivetrain will be different, from the engine back? IOW, to keep it (relatively) simple, I need a 4wd donor with good tranny and drivetrain. Only do a motor swap?
Thanks,
