Maybe you had bad sets.
My brothers ranger has firestones and our 91 mitchubishi eclipse has brand new low pro firestones on it.
They both ride and perform very well.

Ive run Firestones in the past...nice tire , but didnt last me for crap!
$90. dosent sound like a great deal for 31's to me..especially 10.50's
