EGO not switching

Hello,
I have a 1992 Areostar and when idoling it runs ruff and whats to stall. I had a diagnostic test done and it said EGO not switching so we replace the oxygen sensor but that did not help. we then replaced the air flow reader, etc.. we even replaced the plugs and the fuel filter still doing the same thing. Now my cruise control does not work not sure if one has anything to do with the other, I did check the fuse and it seems ok. Please help if you have any ideas..

Thanks

It sounds like you have a vacuum leak. Have you checked all the vacuum hoses?

Drhy,

Which vacuum hose did you find that was cracked? I'm wondering why a cracked vacuum hose would cause an oxygen sensor code to be pulled. I have a '92 3.0L XLT that's currently running fine, but I am interested in learning as much as I can about these types of problems.

Yes! Vacuum! Which one? And did you re-run the test to see if the code didn't reappear? I'm getting the same code and really really want to know IT ALL.

It was the vaccum hose that conects to the Trans. modulator valve. This was sending transmition fluid into the motor, and the motor inturn burning the tranny fluid. It was only around $30.00 for a new trans modulator valve and a new vaccum hose. Labour was just over 1 hour. So total it was just over $100.00. I was worried it was going to cost way more then that so I was very happy. Van has been running great every since. The dealership did re-run the diagnostic test and it was perfect.. By the way I don't think it would make a difference but mine is a 4.0L

Drhy,

Thanks for the info. I can see how if you were sucking trans fluid into the intake you'd get an O2 code and a very rough running idle. Definately something to look out for.
