I know green, a cord (4x4x8) of water oak wood weighes over 6600 pounds. I usually fit almost a 1/3 of a cord of green oak into my poor ole' 1971 F-100 to haul it out and home. Biggest trunk I got into it yet is 31 inches across.
A F-350 with a flat bed (8x5x3) might be able to handle a full cord, otherwise a DUMP trailer is the way to go.

Well, my quistion is if a cord weighs in at say 6k lbs, or three tons, is not the veh 'weight' i.e. 1/2 ton, 3/4 ton, or 1 tin, the weight of what can be carried in the bed? or am i mistaken on this?
a few years back we were cutting firewood from some big old dead trees down in the bottem, these things were pretty tall so we were climbing up them and topping the trees first, being i used to be a lumberjack i didnt mind this. so i am up about 75 feet i look around and decide to drop this one to the left, as it falls it catches on this old dead tree, snaps it and falls, the top i cut hits almost where i want it but the dead tree has started falling the wrong way, it lands sqaure on the cab of my uncles new chevy truck, pretty much destroying it. the truck wasnt a month old. the look on his face was priceless. thank god for insurance.
another time years ago while cutting trees in upstate washington i saw this happen, a guy topped a big tamarack and when it hit the ground it somehow hit another tree that shot out and hit the another tree which broke off and swung over as it was falling hit some logs piled up and shot one out about 75 feet where it hit the bosses 18 year old kid and broke both his legs. it was like watching dominos fall.

He got lucky for sure, sounds like he could have been killed. A hit that breaks both your legs, if it hit you in the chest would likely kill you and stop your heart.
I guess that is why the OSHA rule is 2.5 times tree height, to help prevent injury with the domino effect.

You can not get get a full cord of green hardwood into or onto a full sized truck bed. If you plan on hauling a full cord of green hard wood (which weighes 2x as much as softwood) on a truck it better have a 6k rating.
I have put up to 2k into my truck at a time, my truck and bed is a bit heavier duty than the normal 1/2 ton. Plus, it was for low speed driving not over 35 mph. That being said, most F-series have a bed that can only hold .40 of a cord at max. and that does not subtract for the wheelwells.
Best I can remember a cord of wood is measured at 4' x 4' x 8' long...In this area a "rank" or "ric" is measured by how much
will fit in pickup bed before the fender wells hit the tires.
Afew years ago I had just finished stacking firewood at the end
of the carport......wife drives in and ask me to help her unload the truck. I leaned the push broom against the car. She pressed the automatic trunk release and the lid popped up catching the broom handle......it sailed right through the back glass. The back glass was the heated type...cost a bunch of money.
I've had pretty close to a cord of sawlogs on the F-350. (Dually stake body dump)
The F-250 I'll put 5 (15 - 18" diameter) ten foot long oaks in and thats a load you don't want to drive around town with.
The way I figure what machinery's hand book is listing is that the stacking efficiency of firewood brings the wood volume down to 70 ft^3.
The only way you would get a 128 ft^3 of wood out of a cord is if it were soup...
Machinerys handbook the older releases are pretty interesting --make your own cutting fluids out of whale blubber etc...
