If your using oil thicker that 10w 30, it may take a while to get oil pressure built up. THe motor was made to use 5w 20 or 5w 30 oil. Thick oil is bad not good. Also is the oil clean? Just changing to new 5w 30 oil and new filter might fix the pressure.
Thanks Steve & Fordmerc,
I am using 5w30, and when I changed the oil(w/filter) and the pcv valve things seemed ok for a while. I was changing these items in prep. for a road trip which went off without a hitch. Every start of the engine while I was on the first couple of days on the new oil the gauge responded correctly and always stayed midrange the dial. After returning on @ the 4th day of the new oil, and typical driving(20 min hwy both ways to wrk) the gauge would take time to come to midrange and the engine develops a mild knock until it warms and the gauge starts to show a level. When I measure the oil, on the stick the level has dropped. No oil on ground, no smoke.
