Has anyone seen the 2004 Rangers yet? Personally, I think they are hideously ugly. I can see Ford made some attempt to make them look like the F-series trucks but, the result is pure ugliness. As a owner of Ford Ranger since '87 (I'm on my third Ranger now), I feel betrayed that the new Ranger is soooo ugly. Anyone agree with me on this?
I like the front of the 04 Fx4 Level II..Looks more like a truck then the 03. I have had a ranger since 1991.. I am extremely pleased with my 03 Fx4 level II... Even if it is kind of ugly, it is still a great Truck...........
I like the 04's, very similar to the 03's just a few minor changes to the grill and hood along with some interior changes I bleieve. I think the only truck that looks better is the F-150.
The guages and radios in the '04s look very "japanese" to me. I never thought I'd see the day when Ford would try to copy the foreign trucks. After looking at how much the prices went up, I'm very glad I bought an '03 while there were a few left.
I know it puts a bad taste in our mouths, but we are going to have to be very creative as far as competing in the auto world. The Ranger might someday change a little in directions that annoy us.
For instance, I am thinking that a front wheel drive platform would be nice. Ya gotta admit, we could use a little traction.

Front drive is for cars and rich yuppies. Have you ever tried to haul with front drive? Go do some skid practice and learn how to drive a rear wheel, and you will see it is superior. Having 2 wheels to steer AND 2 wheels to power is better than throwing all of the demand on the front tires. Yes, the Taurus is easy to drive in the rain, and yes, the Explroer slides a bit, but tell me this. Why did Honda, one of the kings of front-drive platforms, make their sports cars (NSX and S2000) rear-drive? It ain't because they felt like it.

If you happen to be someone, by chance, who thinks Ford is cheapening Rangers...well, take note that front-wheel drive wasn't made because it is all tha good. It was made for cost reasons. That tranny tunnel makes a difference, I suppose.
We have the Escape, if you want fwd platform. It is not a serious hauler and has an AWD option (for handling, I presume?).
