You can easily kill the check engine light. Tap the middle wire on the MAP sensor using a T-tap. Run a wire from the T-tap to the ground strap on the firewall. This will ground out the signal before it reaches the MAP sensor.

I've read all this, but did your question ever get answered about why the wasted gated in the first place?
Can I do this mod with the Diablo Predator chip in?
Or does the Chip do this for me?
OK , let me see if I understand the situation correctly.....after reading ALL of the Posts. I disconnect the red vacuum line and remount it on a bolt approximately the same size. Next , since the the wastegate ....Doesn't open I going to get a "check engine lite" which will stay On....ALL the Time. Is that correct?? But, it really doesn't mean anything cause I know what caused it to come on in the first place. BUT...What happens if it stays on and ANOTHER problem develops which would trigger the lite ....with an ACTUAL Problem , but I won't KNOW that cause that lite is on continously because of the vacuum being unhooked.....Is, that going to be a problem or am i just worrying abount nothing here..???I'm all ears........s.kuteman
That is the correct way to disconnect the wastegate.
Your check engine light will not come on and stay on due to this.
Now if you have a chip or programmer, which makes more boost you might get the check engine to come on or flash when on it hard. This is because the MAP sensor sees more than 24psi.
On mine, the check engine light comes on for a few minutes after a hard run, and then goes out again. I am assuming it is due to the boost, but have not verified this with a scan yet.

It will be that, or high backpressure. Both will defuel the exact same way.

Actually, the wastegate will still open. Exhaust pressure will off- seat it at around 27 psi, depending on how tight the linkage is. All we're doing by unplugging it is preventing it from opening at 5 psi and robbing boost all the way up the powerband.
Originally posted by cookie88 There is also a possibility of excessive backpressure issues in the undersized exhaust housing, but that is a non-issue without much greater than stock fuel flow, or an exhaust brake.
If you have NOT disabled the EBPV, will you have backpressure issues in an otherwise stock 7.3?
FOr anyone concerned about your ses light coming on and your PCM defueling, there is a really neat little deal at this site that will take care of it cheaply and quickly--tricks sensor into believing that boost is staying down low where Ford wants it to be:
I had that valve for a while on my truck, it didn't react quickly enough alot of the time, and rarely worked at all in cold weather. Both the 4.7v Zener diode and the mini regulator work better.
I also had that little valve on my truck for a while, and it rarely worked. Instead I got a mini regulator (for air compressors) at home depot, set to about 18psi, and threw it in. Never had a problem with the SES light since.
I'd like to bring this issue too closure by making some kind of definitive statement to reassure those of us that would like to operate our trucks withOUT the w.gate interfering with normal operation of the Turbo.
Such as.......If the vacuum line is removed..(from the wastegate)... and the engine is completely stock , that the operation should not create any problems for the engine due to over-boost as the PCM has a upper limit preset of 20 psi at which time it will automatically start retarding the fuel supply which will also prevent an excess psi problem from developing with the factory exhaust system due to its limited diameter design from the factory.
Cookie 88 will you please evaluate my statement and edit and\or simplify where you feel it is necessary. Or rewrite to suit your own understanding of what I'm trying to say, thanks, s.kuteman
