Poor little guy...
My nephew is 10.
His ear has been hurting him for a few weeks, but nobody really thought anything of it since its that time of season. He kept taking the normal cold / flu / sinus medicines that everybody takes.
Today he went to the Doctor. The referred him to a specialist.
After visiting the specialist, they think that his inner ear got a viral infection. He currently says that he cannot hear anything out of the ear. I don't know if it's 100% but it sounds close to it.
They are not sure if the damage can be reversed.
He's only 10.

Technology can *most likely* fix this little fellow if Mother Nature doesn't. Don't get too down yet.
Though it'll certainly tear the heart out of a stone statue to see a little person suffering, not much can be done about that (unless you drink a lot).
