hey, Im not going to BS you, we had a Dodge 6 speed and did drop the tranny after about 150,000mi. It was ridiculas to replace because you have to buy everything at retail from chrysler. Not saying any truck is perfect, just some makes and models you should stay away from if you want to avoid grief.
Okay....so you come to a Ford 6.0L site bashing Ford first....and now I guess to get on everyone's good side you start the ole' "Dodge has a lousy tranny" thread?? You ever gonna make up your mind??
Besides that, what does the Dodge tranny have to do with the 6.0L Ford?? AND...the Dodge 6 speed is a PROVEN tranny. It is the auto that they have historically had problems with.
You don't like Ford....you don't like Dodge....maybe you should go buy a Duramax?? Better yet, how about you get yourself a Nissan Titan??
What , was I suppose to keep it a secret that we had to replace a 6 speed in our 2000 Dodge ? Does that mean there junk then too ?? I was replying to some clown that said I must be a Dodge man to dare say my new Ford is junk. other than the tranny, we have ran 800,000 mi on Dodge trucks without any other problems with that. All trucks are prone to flaws, but Fords new engine is one big flaw.
No offense, but it doesn't look like you were REPLYING to anyone....since you started this thread and all.
I just found it funny that in one thread you were bashing the new 6.0L (which will be a GREAT engine once they get all the bugs worked out), and then in another thread you started bashing the Dodge tranny...on a site that has NOTHING to do with Dodge, no less.

Are all Texans as stupid as you and GW colgesby ? must be something in the water down there why nobody can seem to read and or make any sort of a valid point.

He must not realize that Texas is Ford country. Period. Most likely more Ford pickups down there per capita, than any other state. And those Texas red hot summers and dusty, pothole roads take their toll, and also prove a vehicles durability, for sure.
I think for me, staying with the more proven 7.3 PSD was the way to go, as I am very skeptical on any new engine or product on the market. Ford was trying a lot of new things with their 6.0, and the best testing is by the consumer. Shame it has to be that way, but that's the way it is. I would be just as skeptical of the new 6.0 Cummins you were talking about. After 2 or 3 years, I bet both engines are going to be great. Hey, I think it would be great if Detroit Diesel and Caterpillar would miniaturize their engines to fit in small trucks. My cousin has a newer Freightliner with the newer style Detroit, and swears by it. Loaded that sucker gets about 7-8 mpg. Not bad for pulling 80000 lbs!!
Until the newer Ford body styles that came out, in 98, I think, I thought Dodge was the most beautiful pickup I had ever seen. But obviously I think Ford is the best looking eye candy now. With Dodge a close second of course. And then there are Chevy owners. I have owned three Chevy gas pickups, and really not too fond of any of them. My son-in-law is a Chevy fan, having a chevy dually that he swears by. He probably wouldn't be caught dead in a Ford. So guess I don't ever have to worry about him wanting to borrow mine...
Well...I certainly hope he wasn't referring to me. Just the same though...maybe it's not the reading that's the problem, maybe it's the writing.
Regarding Texas being Ford country, this is very much the truth. Texas isn't just Ford country though, it's TRUCK country. Texans love trucks....some trucks more than others.
By the way, the "new" Cummins is still the same I-6 5.9L...just turned up a notch or two. I wouldn't be the least bit concerned about it's reliability if I were buying, but who knows....

That's what they meant by a "Texas Cadillac" right????
This guy is just looking for somewhere to blow of steam. So just let him then he will be gone. Don't feed the fire by responding to him because his minds already made up so theres no changing it. Don't agree on the name calling ON CALLED FOR.

Hey, I like you's Texan's style. But I thing Nevada would give you a run for the money on per capita as far as Ford trucks. We likes em too!
Macdrifter no major problem yet w/04-03 6.0 Pertty (as you Texans would say) white over silver extended cab f-250 extended cab 4x4. I just loves my truck!!
Just thought I'd pipe in, the dodge drive train is not the problem, it's been the truck it's self, your not going to find many people to bash the cummins, and as far as the trans. goes dodge doesn't even make it, and it also shifts better, is easer to find gears, (strait pattern) and has been now to last longer, are you sure you know that much about what your talking about, if I had to guess you probally beat the crap out of your 6-speed, and never changed the fluid. As far as the 6.0 goes, unless you were one of the first ones to own one (you wern't) you knew before you got it that they were having all kinds of problems with them, so why didn't ou just wait it out, if you ordered one now I bet it would not be a piece of crap, and you would be very pleased with it, also probaly woulden't have to deel with all the re-flashes.
You definetly need to pipe out and get on your forum. And also, most of the problems you read about the 6.0 are false posts from dodge truck owners who don't have anything better to do (like get on there own forums and tell everybody how happy they are with there trucks) gee, I wonder why?
<!-- What's your problem dick, I mean Macdrifter, --->(Edited out by Admin)I don't even own a dodge, and I even talked bad of dodge, I don't even bash the 6.0, as I love the engine and think it has the potitial to go far, did you have a bad day at work and thought you would take it out on me or what? Hell my step-dad works at a ford dealer ship, so I bet you money that I know more about whats going on at anytime than you ever will!!! Why are you giving me hell? If you have ever driven a dodge 6-speed you would know that they are much easier to shift and much more comfortable, no bs, just the facts of life, the 6-speed ford takes some getting used to, but im sure everone that has one is very satisfied. What are you mad or something, is your 6.0 in the shop and you had to get a ride home in a cummins or something? Maybe you need to reread my post and take some prozak!!! So thats cool that you post that you havent had any problems with your 6.0, what are you mad because everyone bashes them? I even went as far as to say that I bet if you orderd one now that I bet you would not have any problems with it. Ford motor company puts food on my familys table, so I watch what I say and how I say it, so i'm ready and waiting for that appoligy you owe me
I don;t think it fare that someone can jump on my (butt) when I haven't even said anything (mean) I will not name call, but is this how you treat everyone Macdrifter or is just me, every one let me know what you think, am I out of line or what, if I am I will take it like a man, but I shure don't like to be clowned when I didn't post anything bad the first time, so i'm still waiting on that appoligy and I appoligize to the addmistrator for getting upset!!!
