we have a 2003 lariat F350 with the 7.3, absolutely no problems. At least someone has noticed the obvious, that all we used to buy was Ford. We are extremely disappointed, and would have traded our 6.0 for a new 7.3 in a heartbeat.
Originally posted by TJC1989 Rather than be a Ford basher, why don't you sing Dodge's praises at a Dodge forum? Most people here really love our Ford trucks, I suspect, and surely don't deserve to be called names such as "smartass" because they express opinions that the Dodge most likely has a common set of problems of its own, such as a chronically weak tranny. There are not many perfect trucks. I think all of the top 3 American made trucks have their own strengths and weaknesses. Same goes with different models and manufacture years. I think maybe an apology is in order from you to 68ford..........
Why are y'all bashing Dodge because of this guy? He clearly said that he doesn't like Dodge. I see a lot of Dodge bashing going on in a thread that has nothing at all to do with Dodge.
Personally, I'll keep my Dodge. I've had ZERO problems with it....and I have no reason to think it won't stay that way.
I'll also freely admit that I like Ford trucks better (even though I still think Dodge has the better diesel engine). However, at the time I bought my truck I heard nothing but horror stories from 6.0L owners and nothing but good stories from 03 Cummins owners. Not only that, but my Dodge ended up costing me about $7000 less than a comparitively equipped Ford at the time.
The post makes you want to think. There is alot of problems for the 6.0 but I think or atleast hope that ford will work it out.I like some others have been having problems But I am trying to stay positive about it all.
I rememeber some chevy diesels that were junk from the start, atleast ford tried to fix something, instead of letting it go. Look at the 5.7 diesel 5.9 diesel 6.2 diesel and the 6.5 diesel. All junk, they never had power, they never ran right. I think fordquality hahaha has just stepped in a pile of ****. The ford 7.3 always has blown the chevy diesels out of the water, and now that chevy has a new diesel, that makes less power, and ford has a new one, the slates are clean? I don't think so, ford has a better track record. Look at the chevy pos gassers. You have to wind em before any power comes out of them, oviously you do not know what to look for in a truck. You must like those 3000 lb 1-ton truck from chevy. Who needs something heavy-duty when it costs 10 cents? Now lets move onto the dodges. First off, low torque and hp output in the standard model, non ho. The PSD comes stock with 560 lbs or torque and 325 hp, no i-6 can meet that. I think the cummins is a strong motor, but the ho will not meet the 04 EPA standards, anyone can stray more fuel in the cylender and call it an HO. If you are going to have a tough engine, then you have to make the rest of the truck tough too, that does not include putting in a lawnmower transmission with o/d. Dodge is the only one i know which can take a perfectly fine carbed 360 and make it suck with EFI. I would like to see a dodge with *****, yet to see it. I will give them credit for choosing the cummins engine, thats it. Ohh, lets not forget the high prices on all of the parts, almost 2 time the cost from any other manufacturer. I am a tried and true oval beleiver, now don't come here and pull your fords suck bull ****, how about giving a reason, and we will point out whats wrong with your ride.

boy this guy is a jackass he should take his opinions somewhere else. i own a 6.o psd and it is a great engine. anyways just puttin in my two cents later guys.
Last time I checked, this was the Ford Truck Enthusiasts forum. Key word is enthusiasts, obviously "Ford Quality?? HAHAHA" has a difficulty with comprehension. I also notice FQ is a new user with 8 posts. Troll?
FQ is all show and no go. I asked him in a previous post how much he wanted for his truck that he wants to sell so badly. No answer. Hmmm.... sounds like no truck either. Yes. Troll.
Hey, If they didnt have such a garbage engine and or at least knew how to fix them then we would still only own Fords. Weve probably lined the Ford families pockets with more $$$ than anyone of you so called Ford Enthusiasts. We were reluctant, but had to switch over. Are any of you guys that dont have problems actaully hauling with your trucks ? we do over 100,000mi in a year with consistantly 20,000lb loads. Our 2000 with the 7.3 has been fine since we quit using it as a work truck. That truck was the first
Ford lemon we had bought, but it is still twice the truck the 6.0 is. We cant get a buyback, cant get a dealer to fix it after taking it to 6 dealers, and they are worthless on the used market because everybody knows about them. Do most of you guys work for Ford ?

Might want to do your research before making such bold statements. The latest version of the I-6 5.9L Cummins boasts 325 HP and 600 lb-ft of torque.....starting at 1600 RPM's....right where you need it most. So, not only will an I-6 MEET your 325/560, it will BEAT it.
Oh yeah....EPA legal in 50 states. It's nicknamed the Cummins "600" and will be available in the 04.5 and later trucks. Cummins is dropping the Standard Output engine as well. It's not needed any more since the "600" is 50 state legal.
BroncoGuy 84, give me a check for $ 30K and its yours. 150,000 km and set up for towing. ALL SALES ARE FINAL AND NO REFUNDS. Give me your address and Ill drive it to you tomorrow.
We thought about it , but the dealers will kill us on depreciation. Nobody wants them, so whos going to pay anything for them ? Also, we wont touch another Ford until we know something is different.
