I have a 03 F-450 that was purchsed by my employer last May on my recommendation. It has an early 03 build date and I have unfortunately experienced about every problem that seems to be common to this engine. I have had all the flashes, 3 new injectors and now had two incidents with cranks/no-start. Last time it was in the shop for 2 weeks while they sourced a new PCM after first replacing the FICM and the fuel pump. I had it back and drove it about a hundred miles and it left me stranded again. My employer counts on this truck as we cover a large geographic area and a loaner vehicle is not an option when you need a flat bed truck and pull a large trailer. I love the way this truck performs when it is working properly, but we can't tolerate this unreliability. I would appreciate any guidance on how to navigatethe DSB or buyback process so I can get a replacement.
Thanks

i thikn you have said enough in your other post ford quality ??? Maybe you should have purchased a fleet of 7.3's from 02, it is common sense that you do not buy first year cars or engine, there will ALWAYS be problems.
We have always been happy with our Ford trucks, who would have thought they would have done something so utterly stupid and then do nothing for their loyal customers ? Mabye the Ford family should quit worrying about their pathetic football team and start worrying about their new pathetic engine
For $30,000+ I would think Ford would would get it right the first time. The days of shutting down the factory for 6 months or a year for new product lines are long past.
My brother replaced his 99 F350 with a 2004 GAS V10 under a special agreement with the dealer. He gets full trade the first year IF Ford ever gets the 6.0 to run right. The 2004 F350 PSD he took on a overnight test drive had to be towed from his driveway when it refused to start the next morning! Tow truck driver from the dealer couldn't believe it when he got there, said it was the second time he had to tow that POS back to the dealership! I can't imagine what its like for the dealer trying to get warranty repairs on a truck that hasn't even sold yet. He took a V10 because his Excursion has run like a top since day one.
At least he had a good dealer. We just get " I dont know, the computer said it was fixed" and " well have to call Ford again" . I just dont hear this many stories about the other two brands.
Dealer is taking a beating on this. He has a 6.0 2003 sitting on his lot and is praying another dealer sells it for him, he isn't going too. He only has one 2004 6.0 for test drives and now he's having problems with it. He had sold about 10 2003s 6.0s when they first came out and has had his *** reamed by the customers on every one. He bought into the "2004s have to be better" but he can't even keep his demo unit running and its the only 2004 6.0 on his lot. Told his salesmen that anyone demanding a new 6.0 gets sent to a larger dealer in Topeka, he doesn't want the headaches. Got to be murder on a guy who sells trucks in a town of only 3K people.
He sure as Hell isn't telling his customers to "Have a positive outlook" when they start writing checks for new trucks. Mean time my brother doesn't mind the V10 instead of the diesel since gas has gone down to $1.30. I don't think he's going to get his trade as his average miles per month are putting him way over what the dealer agreed to concerning the full trade deal.

Almost every company which has came out with a new series of engine has had problem. The early chrysler fuel injected engine had no power, the chevy vortecs, the early onbes had problems, and the new 6.0 is having problems. Now we all know it is a common thing for new engines to have problems, but if a dealer is giving you problems, report them to ford, so other people do not have to go through the same thing.
