1998 ford expedition head lights i'am not shure but my headlights dont project too far anything i can do are those projector lights any good my head lights seem to move a little bit how do i adjust them
I was really disappointed with the headlights when I first bought my Expy. I've tried a couple types of replacement bulbs with the most recent being the sylvania's everybody is ranting about. They're OK, but where I really got more light was from installing PIAA fogs inside the air dam cutouts.
Buzzard,
As one considering that same route, might I ask what PIAAs you used?
2 trucks ago, I had a set of 55W Hellas. On my last truck, I had a set of 100W KCs. I'd like to add some extra light to the Expy...but don't want to go the brush guard route...and am not particularly wild about just bolting them to the bumper. If I could find a small set that would fit in the cutouts, and actually provide a good deal of light, I'd be thrilled! (And yes, I've looked at the Xenarc...too rich for my blood. $700 for lights? Not any time soon).
I used PIAA 1451's. They fit/look great in the holes, although it took a little work to get them in. You'll have to remove the air dam and do a little trimming to get them mounted correctly. I found a dremel with a little sanding wheel on the end worked best.
I also currently have the Sylvania Silverstar bulbs, and they are ok. Compared to my Bronco, the Expy's headlights just plain suck. It's like a step back in time. You would think they would make things better as time goes on, but I guess not. I am running standard bulbs in my Bronco, and they are much brighter than my Expedition.
I have heard great things about the Sylvania Xenarcs, but at $500 for the setup, I am still waiting for the price to come down.
IMHO, you can place aircraft landing lightbulbs in Expy headlight assemblies and the lighting will still stink. It's all in the fluting molded into the lens. Apparently, Ford didn't want to field complaints about oncoming drivers being blinded by the lights and designed a light pattern ideal for hunting for nightcrawlers. Perhaps the H-D lenses are better.
I understand the lights on the 03/4 are much improved. Some folks here have bought the headlight units for the 04 F150 Heritage for their pre 03 Expys. I have heard that is a great improvement. I just ordered some Hella's for mine. Much cheaper.

I looked at one myself in ebay, not cheap. The seller wanted $320 without shipping and handling. They look nice and sporty too for my 99 XLT. I personally don't think they'd fit - unless someone on this board has tried it.
The F-150 Heritage, if I have the name right, is the 04 with the )3 bodystyle. The dealer told me that some were using these lights, I have not seen one.
