Stay away from Leer.I got the cab hi fiberglass cap and i think its a piece of CRAP.Windows leak.Rear window doesnt seal right exct.I saw a snug top and it looked like good stuff.
>I saw a ARE cap today looked nice ,don't know anything about
>them though!
I have an ARE cap on a SB. Not too bad, although the fiberglass could
be a little less wavy. I got the better model, forget the type (Z?)
The rear door catches are coated with plastic and they are already
wearing so much that the door is loose when closed. Needs to be
adjusted, but would be better if it didn't need to be done at all.
Only 2700 miles.
Other than that, a NICE cap! They perfectly matched the factory
green-forest-whatever paint. Now it looks like an Excursion!
I thought a Leer was better, but maybe not, now that I see this
thread.
I have the leer model 122, tallest one they make. I had to get the front folding/slider window replace 3 times before it would work right. It also seems to be spreading at the back where the door is, there are gaps on both sides of the glass gate that weren't there before. But other than that, I have had no leaks, etc. I can fit 3 motorcycle inside of it and close the gate, that's why I got the tall one.
Take a look at Stockland. I have the Daytona on my truck and have received many compliments on it. It covers the rail caps nicely (including the dip down at the tailgate). It has a trim strip on the bottom of the rear glass that is painted to match and blends nicely with the truck. They aren't cheap and cost almost as much as a SnugTop, but in my opinion look much better. Check out the website at www.stockland.com. There is a picture of one on a superduty if you click on Daytona. It's times like these that I wish I would get off of my lazy butt and snaps some pics of my truck and start my gallery. Someday...
I have the ARE on the Short bed.... straight line across the top and had the interior lined. Had the dual lock option installed and seems to secure it quite well. The sport wing on top was a nice touch also...
I had the ARE Z series on an f150 supercrew and it was a nice top. It had minor problems, like mentioned above. But overall a very nice top.
I have been in the market again for my new F350 cc and was thinking leer, due to a local dealer for them, but now am not sure. I guess I will keep looking.
I've had two snugtop Expo's on my shortbed. They look like a factory part, and are built very well. I was in a rollover and the top held up well except for the glass,it could have been easily repaired, but that is what insurance is for.

I have a Raider Vagabond. It is cab high and I love it!
I posted a similar question 4 months ago. We take the truck camping, diving, etc.. I wanted to secure the gear, so it would still be there after we stopped to eat, or just so something would not fly out on a trip.
I looked at the fit of tops and fiberglass covers on trucks in parking lots (Wal-Mart) all over. Saw a Leer on a truck, and decided it would never do for me.
I decided on a cab high top, and looked at various models, many of the top of the line, were nice. But my local dealer sold ARE, and I ordered a "Z" series with the headliner and keyless entry feature. I also got a bed rug at the same time. It was in in a week, looks good, the paint matches, and it covers the bed rail caps. Yes I'm happy with it.
