P235 vs. LT235

I am looking at getting a aet of BFGoodrich Land Terrain tires and was wondering what the difference between the P235/75R and the LT235/75R?

Load rating. The LTs are substantially higher.

Check the OEM tire load rating for your truck and compare them with the LT's you want. The LT's will have a stiffer sidewall and might ride a little rougher. "P" is for passenger (softer ride) and "LT" is Light Truck (stiffer).

My truck came with a P235/75/15XL which has a higher load rating than a non XL tire @ 35 PSI max. The tires that I have now are 255/70/15 with the same load rating but @44 psi max.

Many LT tires have an extra ply (3 vs. 2) and tougher sidewall rubber.
