alright guys im rebuilding a 84' 300 straight six, stock head, stock replacement pistons, i want to get some more compresion by having the head milled, how much compression could i use and still run cheap 87 octane gas, how much would i mill off the head to acheve this ?
The amount of decking for the block will be determined after it is fitted with the Crankshaft and new piston/Rod combinations...(Gotta see how close to the top they are coming)
the Head should be milled at least .010 to square it up anyway..
with the stock pistons you could probably take up to .080 off with no problems..
Your BEST BET to raise the compression to a point that will still run on pump gas is to find a CYLINDER HEAD fron a 240 and use it.
Get a good 240 head, Cut it .010 to square it up and yer ready to go!!!!
well i decided i am not going to deck the block as it is already assembled, i am however going to deck the head for more compression, i would like to know how much to mill off the head of my 84 300 6 for optimumum compression on 87 octane gas
