If I could be so lucky.

97 f-150 4x4 ext cab shortbed flareside 4.6l 83,000 mi.

The best I ever got was last tank 14.7mpg.
It never seemed to matter (towing snowmobiles, tractors, horses uphill/downhill - full throttle - or engine shut off coasting downhill ) I always came up with 11 to 11.7 mpg.

Resantly added new plugs k&n highflow filter and a cat back with si/do 40 series flowmaster Exits out the back.was then getting 13.5 . Also went to full synthetics in everything.before this last tank.

And my wife just laughed at me .....Again.......she gets 22 to 25 in her 4.7 2x toyota tundra.

04 Supercrew, 4.6L, XLT, pretty much a plain truck. With 3800 miles on the clock I filled up today and the mileage figured to be 20.4 MPG's. That would be expressway and town driving. I usually don't drive faster than 80 and most would be at 65.

Xlt Scab/ 4.6, 2wd

Lately I have been getting 17 around town, and up to 18-19+ freeway.

This last weekend we did a 250 mile trip, on state highways (50-55 mph), and freeway (averaged 70 mph), and I did 21.8 mpg. I am light on the pedal, and usually take it easy.

I have almost 4000 miles, and the mileage has improved the last month.

Holy Crap! I've got an '04 STX Reg Cab, 2x4, 4.6 . 14.6 MPG was the best milage I've had. Mostly highway miles. Usually get around 13.4 MPG. I must have picked up one of the worst 4.6 engines for MPG ever.

Wow. just got 17.89 mpg. This was 90% freeway 65 with cruise. I Filled up drove 102 miles and filled up again. 5.7 gallons.

This makes me wonder if it is true that you get bettetmilage on the first 1/2 tank.
Has anyone ever tried to test this theory. I'm going to try. After I filled up I turned the AC on and am going to put on a hundred miles around town and check again.

Low mileage '08 STX Regular Cab with 3.73 gears. I've used 152.722 gallons in 2433.7 miles (15.9 MPG) of mixed driving with very little highway miles. The best I've gotten between fillups is 19.4 MPG twice and the worst is 11.5. I figure (no pun intended) mileage will improve as the engine loosens up with a few more thousand miles on it.

Mustang GT wieght of 3,200 lbs.

Best of 30 MPG
worst of 12 MPG
averaged 15 to 17 mpg in the city

best of luck with a 5,000 lb truck and the 4.6 motor. If I only averaged 15-17 mpg city...I don't see how an extra 2,000 lbs can achieve the same

The gas gauge works the same way in most vehicles. The first half tank seems to go farther because when the gauge reads half a tank, you actually have less than that.
