Well I took a digger into the ditch on my lunch break today. I wound up facing the wrong way, after my drivers mirror touched the ground. I guess thats why I pay insurance, looks like a few grand in damage.
Turns out the Bronco's are a bit squirrelly on the ice in 2WD, and a little top heavy too.
And of course my 4WD wouldn't lock in again to get out.
Maybe they can tell me it's totalled, and I can start over???
Im guessing your ok?... Do yourself a favor if they deem it totaled.. Don't buy anymore Fords.. I don't think i would ever consider buying one.. or any domestic.. I seem to see less and less of them everyday.. I wonder why..
hey free agent
why would you be not recomending another ford when you drive one? all vehicles are squirrely on ice four wheel drive or two wheel drive. i have never found my full size bronco to be top heavy at all . if you were talking about a bronco 2 then i would agree but it is not really top heavey it is just to narrow for the amount of top weight.
i think justb about everyone on this forum would buy another bronco except you. so what would you buy?
I like Fords Styling..but there quailty sucks.. My dad has a 99 F-250 with power stroke.. Two transmissions laters he finally got rid of it.. He had several other problems with it... He ended up buying another one 03 250.. Nothing has gone wrong with it *YET*.. My mom has a 92 T-Bird.. At first it was ok.. Then it started acting up.. She only has like maybe 52k orginal miles on it.. They key is very picky.. Sometimes it will work sometimes it wont.. The roof selant or w/e it is..started leaking out..getting all over her seats.. The paint on the mirrors has came off.. and by the door..there were a few other problems.. Then we get to my dads 81 Bronco.. He was under the hood every weekend fixing something or another..( Prob wasnt Ford..because it was an older vehicle ) My friend has a 91 Ranger.. With 60k orginal miles on.. He bought it from a dealer a few months ago.. He drive its prob everyday.. and he is already having problems with it.. THEN.. My cousin bought an older Maverick .. He couldn't afford to keep it.. Was ALWAYS putting money in it.. Then he bought a newer Sable.. Everything started screwing up.. ( He got Maverick for free and he bought the Sable from a local dealer..) He said all the money he spent on trying to make those cars run..he could have straight out bought his Mitsubishi Eclipse... Yet I know people who have Toyota Trucks..and there hitting 200k trouble free miles..
hey free
sorry to hear of all your problems. i had a 1980 turbo mustang that had 240,000 miles on it before i sold it only put i clutch in it.
i sold my ranger 1988 4 cylender with 214,000 miles on it did nothing except maintenance on it still had the original clutch and it is still running i did have a 1989 ford tempo all wheel drive but that ate rear u joints and 1 fuel pump in 125,000 miles. 1975 f 250 high boy never any problems.
now i also had 1993 chevy s 10 that i bought new , needed a clutch at 80,000 miles , my chevy work van 214,000 miles and it has had 3 transmissions 2 radiators 3 exhaust systems.
i guess my good luck has been with fords, again sorry that you have had bad luck with fords but i feel there quality is better than any other american made car or truck and most foriegn models.
Wow maybe you should reconsider how you buy a vehicle. I have had nothing but great luck with mine. 76 Cobra 210k miles before I sold for 12K. 76 Merc Cougar, 192k before i donated to charity. Just got tired of the gas mileage but no rust and ran like a dream. 77 Bronco...almost 200k. Sold to buy big bronco..wanted more room. 84 F150...150k then built up as a toy. Sold to someone who had more money than he knew what to do with. Made me an offer I couldnt refuse. Now with my 85 and its at 216k and counting. Have replaced nothing but the normal wear an tear stuff.
Maybe you need someone to go with you guys to buy your vehicles...doesnt seem you are looking at em the right way to make sure they have been taken care of.

dude all brands have problems. my friends bought a brand new ZR2 and had that thing in on warrenty a few times, within the first six months. had to get half of his front end redone. and what about all those Tahoes? GM wont even put out a recal on them for that tick, that turns out to be doing alot of damage to the engines. you have to sue them to get your money back fr another truck. I watch jeeps brake all the time. my buddys engine blew at only like 80,000. he wasn't even raggin on it. so maybee you should realize that all cars have problems, alot of the guys here like Ford, and some of us like me prefer them to other brands. if you don't like them, why don't you sell yours and go to a chevy forum?
In my experience, Fords have been more reliable than any other vehicle I have used as a daily driver. Once owned a Camaro Z28 and I had nothing but problems with it, something was constantly breaking. On the other hand I've had more than a dozen mustangs and never really had any problems on any of them that wasn't considered "normal wear and tear." And most notable of these mustangs was my '71 that had over 150K when I bought it, put another 50k on it and never had any problems. I rebuilt it from the ground up a few years ago, not because anything broke down but because I was making it into a show car/weekend racer. And by far the best vehicle I have ever owned was my '79 F250. It was only two wheel drive but that thing could go just about anywhere. Unfortunately, I can't say much for my bronco just yet (I've had to repair a few things and I'm currently dragging my feet on a lift), but I'm sure that it will last much longer than the K5 Blazer I scrapped last year.
I would never buy a chevy.. I liked the Tahoes.. But i read up on em` ... I know all vehicles have there share of problems..Granet i know people that have had really good luck with them.. My dads friend.. He has 102k miles on his F-150.. He sold it so he could buy his new one..Then i come on here..See all you guys that have all these miles...trouble free.. and some that didn't make it 100 ft.. Maybe i will have good luck with my Bronco ( Still in process of getting it fixed up ) I don't mean to bash Ford but i do.. It gets discouraging after a while..BUT.. If the real truth be known.. I would probably buy another.. and probably cause the little bad stands out over all the good.. but thats just my two cents
ya i have and 1984 crown vic with 166+ thousand, the only reasion its off the road is the 20 years of salt eatin away the frame.... still does cookies like you wouldnt beleave
Hey all, I figured I would say something about this too. I own a ford now, and 87. In my opinion some of you are right, they are bullet proof and reliable, but only the older ones. I would NEVER buy a newer ford, they pratically have another recall every week, compared with Toyota and Honda. And yeah maybe GM is ignoring a ticking problem with the Tahoe, but take a step back, ford did the same thing with the ignition switch on the 91 thru 95(?) explorers, they denied there was a problem, then admitted it but would not fix it. My mom had one sold it soon after ford said they wouldn't fix it, and my friend had one that burned to the ground for that problem. Finally, there is some truth to the fact that foriegn cars are better, it has been proven over and over that the education system in Japan and the work ethic is better then here in the stated, hence they care more about the products they produce. I also want to say, to all you DIE-HARD ford guys, I do respect that you like fords, but you cannot go around saying fords are the best and everything else sucks, take a step back and look and see, ford had its share of problems. Sorry for the long post.
Sorry guys, but I have to agree with Talled20. The Japs are kicking our butt in the quality game. I don't blame it on engineering ability or the guys who put them together. I blame it on the bean counters who decide that they can save 50-cents per unit by using plastic tanks on a radiator rather a normal brass or aluminum radiator.
I have a 94 Bronco w/ 90k miles. My wife has a '95 4-runner with 150 k miles. They both cost about the same price new. I've had all of the typical Bronco problems (radiator, transmission, hubs, a/c leak, steering box, etc).
The 4-runner has required NOTHING other than scheduled maintenance. It has NO LEAKS, NO RATTLES -- nothing! I wish that they would let our guys build them that way.
First of all ford did recall The ignition problem(part overheating and causing fires) I know because it got replaced in my 1990 f150.
I was the second owner of that truck and I still recieved the recall letter. Second of all this is a ford forum, although I respect everyones right to ther opinion( thats what makes America great) why come on a ford web site and bash fords? Most people on this sight love there fords regardless of the problems some may have I know I do. By the way my 1990 ford f150 had 160 thousand miles on it when I sold it. Still ran perfect. The only thing i ever replaced was the fuel pump besides normal matinence
