The orginal reason i came on here was because i was having problems.. and i know im a on a Ford forum..but i can't keep saying how 'great' Ford is when i see they problems..Granet there is some Fords that have hit 1million trouble free miles...and there are some Toyotas that havn't hit 100 and are troubled.. Domestic companys seem to be all out for the money.. More and more i read.. I'm scared to buy a new vehicle.. Maybe just stick with them classics..
I didn't post my reply to "bash fords", and just because this is a ford web site doesn't mean that all that should be posted is good stuff. I just wanted to put in perspective that while some fords may be good, there really isn't any american car(heck, even a vette or a mustang would be smoked by any late model Supra, and they are only inline 6's) that can compare with most foreign cars. I think that the car manufactuers have to start doing something about this, I am sure they have the ablity to do it, they just need to be motivated to.
Talled20- I agree with you completely about the quality aspect when compared to Honda and Toyota. A guy that works for me has an '83 Toyota with over 400K on the odometer and it still runs like new. I would just pick Ford over them because I like their styling alot better. But when comparing the "big three," I would pick Ford any day for quality.
The difference in quality between foreign and domestic automobiles is a direct result in differences in their business plans. For years and years, the Big Three would turn their profits into dividends paid to their shareholders, quite a large sum, no doubt. The Japanese auto companies, instead of paying dividends, would put the money back into research and development, allowing them to continually improve their vehicles. Certainly no difference in the abilities of the auto workers. A toyota built in Georgetown, KY or a Nissan built in Smyrna, TN is no different that their equivalents built in Japan. One can only hope that the top guys at Ford and GM will come to realize that answer to improving profits is to improve quality, not to move factories to countries where labor is cheap. Don't get me wrong, I've owned more American vehicles than Japanese and have loved them all. But the two Nissans I've owned had a better fit and finish and had no major problems. Just got my Bronco a couple of months ago and no problems with it yet other than brakes. I hope it continues that way because I love the truck.
hey talled20
what is tyhe cost of a supra compared to the cost of a mustang?how about compared to a cobra mustang or even a roush mustang, forget the vette it is a chevy and i just dont care for them. my point here is i think you get what you pay for and my money will always go to ford, im not saying that foreign cars are no good but i like fords. my wife likes a kia sedona van which is 10000 dollars less than an windstar. what would you do in a case like this?
The Reason I Buy Domestic Vehicles Isnt Because They Are Better Or "last Longer" Or Have Less Trouble ,,,,,,,i Buy Them Because I Am An American And Support My Country In Any Way I Can,,, So Go Buy Your Toyota Or Nissan And Do The Rest Of Us Tax Payers A Favor Too.............move To Japan
Also talled20, the supra you are talking about is the twin turbo. Imagine what a GT would do if it was twin turboed! The supra would not be able to touch it! I will admit they are awsome cars but something must of went wrong if they stopped production! Just my opinion.
Im guessing your ok?... Do yourself a favor if they deem it totaled.. Don't buy anymore Fords.. I don't think i would ever consider buying one.. or any domestic.. I seem to see less and less of them everyday.. I wonder why..
Ummm, if that is your view, why are you regestered on a Ford truck website?
And how is it the trucks fault that it slid into a ditch? Like it wouldn't have happened to a pathfinder in 2wd...
freeagentrider......what is your deal, ford is as good as it gets....if your dont have something good to ssay about it then dont post again, stuff like that just irratates people
who cares about jap rice burners that u can't even stick your hand in the engine its sooo tight. BUY AMERICAN CARS. Fords are down to earth good ole vehicles.
Not all Ford's are perfect, nothing is perfect, I am totally opposiong Ford though, if my Bronco goes Im buying another, they're bulletproof ( well 92-96 models are all I have experienced!). My dad has an 85 F-250, 260,000 miles on it with a new engine and new tie rods, thats all he has done with it, my mom has a 97 F-250 HD 460 with 122,000, new alternator recently, but other than that untouched, my Bronco has 125,000 on it, replaced the battery a couple years ago, thats all. Now, for the Chevy in the family of Ford's, I like to go by it as the black sheep, its an 89 GMC Vandura, its mostly sitting there, but we have had nothing but problems with it lately, new battery, new alternator, new exhaust system, rear end whines like a dog, transmission shifts from 1st to 2nd at about 4000 RPM no matter how hard your on the pedal and then shifts with a jolt! I think it all mostly has to do with two things; one being your experience with the maker, if you have had good experiences with Chevy's then you oppose Chev's naturally, vice versa with Ford or Dodge or all the millions of imports. Or it also has to do with how much you pay attention to the vehicle. If you maintain it to specs and keep everything clean and lubed, it will run its max! In my experience I have found that Chevy's are hard to work on and their parts aren't worth .02. But with some Ford's there parts are in hard to reach places, such as the PCV valve on my 94, what a hassle! So if your happy with one company stick with it, but everyone of them has a flaw, none can ever make you happy in any way!
Oh and just to throw in what I think of Ford and Chev, what did Chevy ever do?? Henry Ford was a genius and a god, he revolutionalized what these companies are doing today!
As far as that Supra goes, that things weighs half of what my front end does! I would love to see what would happen to that thing getting rear ended by a Bronco, then compare it to a Mustang, hands down the Mustang would win! Its impossible to work on those imports anyways, thats why they make them to run so long, and no new Toyota will ever run as long as the older ones, it will just never happen, all they are interested in is your money, they want them to break down for your money! My friends 2003 Hyundai Tiburon has gone through three clutches already at 10,000 miles, hes had MAF sensor problems and computer problems too!! Seems rediculous to me!
I have both my Bronco and a Toyota pickup. The Toy is very reliable and have well over 200k on it. There is no Comparison between the 2. My Toy runs perfect but is a POS and is falling apart around the motor that won't quit but can't get out of it's own way. I keep it for hauling my dirt bike and to keep the milage off my Bronco. My Bronco has 137000 miles now and is still running strong and has never had a major problem. I hate driving the toy but I love to drive my Bronco any chance I can. It's like comparing apples and oranges. They just aren't in the same league.
I helped a nieghbor put a lift on his brand new 04 F-150 the other day and I have to say I was very impressed with the engineering on the front suspension. I think all new stuff has it's share of problems. But Ford did alot of things right on the new trucks. (Not that It could ever replace my Bronco) I would definitly buy a new Ford over the others if I found myself needing a new truck.
wow, the differance too me is one you can fix yourself if you want too and the other cost a ton more in parts and time.If you ever need to take it in too a shop get your wallet ready to pay again for an import. The other thing is they all look alike like most of there owners.
