Painted Mirrors

We had our Van painted last Fall. when it came out of the paint shop the mirrors were not repainted. I picked up a can of BLACK SATIN Automotive Trim Coating by Bondo/Mar-Hyde. This spring I sanded the Mirrors with 400 grit, cleaned them Rubbing Alcohol, Masked off the Mirrors & mirror pillars. and applied four coats to them. The still look great and I just did the wiper arms with the same paint. If I can get two days down time on the Van I'm going to paint the door handles. The can was $7.99 at Mattos and one can will be more than enough

Thank you for the tip. My mirrors and handles are looking tough. Also my son's '90 T-Bird's mirrors need touching up.

The trim paint works pretty well on the rubber mouldings around the windows. If your mouldings are deteriorated to the point of pitting, you migh try sinding and filling first.

I fact, i was thinking of doing this to new rubber trim, just to protect them from the sun. When the paint starts to deteriorate, just sand it off and re-apply. At least the rubber is preserved.
