The part # I got from the dealer was E9TZ7210C for $138. Forget that!
¿What other vehicles can I pull a shifter off of that will work for my application?
I am looking for the cheapest possible fix and I don't want to order online or from the dealer. (sure would like that Hust short throw, but not for $200! And no, it's not on e-bay.)
From my understanding the tranny that is in there is used in Ford Rangers, and compact Fords and Mazdas. I need to know what specific year and model so that I can go to Pic-a-Part and pull the exact one that I need.
Thanks,

Fast Forward a year and a half or so. Shifting perfectly normal and my recent hard driving caused one of those bent rings to become FUBAR'd and wedge itself into the tranny shift part, with only 1st available. After loosening the shifter and Jerry riggin' it I'm able to drive again.
The previous owner had a transmission rebuild or replace and my guess is they didn't put it back right. I'm sure the beer didn't help when I put it back together and I'm certain that my aggresive gear changes haven't helped matters any, either.
'Cause the truck's old and runs fine, I don't want to drop any $ in it at all. Of course I'd love to throw all kinds of mods and aftermarket stuff in, but I'm still trying to sell the old lady on a supercharger for the Exporer!
