Was un-sure of the best place to post this question.
I have an external fuel tank with the 12v pump mounted on the top. The threads where the pump and fill tube go into the top are leaking. The instructions that came with both the tank and pump indicate using teflon tape...I don't think its sealing good enough. Yes, I have re-wrapped them even with more turns around the thread.
My question is will regular plumbers thread compound work better? Will the diesel fuel eat it away? Is there something better that I don't know about?
You need to get some "Blue Goop" you can get it at a plumbers supply house .We used it on everything known to man! acids ,chemicals ,diesel fuel ,gasoline, perchlor you name it !
But chk the thread bung on your tank to make sure it's not cracked!
This stuff will seal it but,the stress of fitting (tapered threads) will
keep stress in the area.
