2008 F150 XLT 4WD 5.4 3valve
I've had this truck a long time; low miles, runs great, never off-roaded, never been in an accident, always kept up on the maintenance. Anyways, I just noticed for the first time the steering wheel is not straight when the truck itself is tracking straight. The front tires look normal, and it does not pull one way or another, and it has never been in an alignment shop because it never needed it. However, the steering wheel is about 10 degrees right when the vehicle is going perfectly straight. How could this be ? Could something loosen up by itself ?
If it runs straight, doesn't wander or bump steer, and you can confirm by having a friend move the wheel while you watch all the steering components under the truck that something isn't loose, cracked or otherwise questionable, then drive it.
Otherwise, find a front end place you trust and get your checkbook out.......
You've had it a long time, but just noticed this? Was it ever straight, or do you know? If this is a sudden change, "RUH ROH" applies, best to get it checked.
It can be adjusted as long as there are no hidden issues, adjusting one side in and the other side out at the tie rod ends, and test drives in between, or an alignment shop on a rack.
