Vintage air problems
Since it was new I have had issues with the evaporator freezing off, I learned to live with that by just manually cycling the compressor off when the air flow was restricted.
also since it was new, if I would hit say 3,000 RPM when running through the gears the AC compressor would make a awful noise that was from cavitation, I learned to live with that by shutting off the compressor if I wanted to let er rip.
Now it is caviating at highway speeds.
Also since it was new the lines for the kit came with one end crimped and you had to get the other end crimped which I had done at my local napa have experienced multiple failures with the ones Napa has done. the last time I just took the hose to a different shop and had a new hose made
But now I have it all back together, weighed in correct charge, no apparent leaks and the low side pressure goes into a vacuum and cavitates at 1500 RPM .
I am not a AC expert by any means all the research and testing I am doing points to a restriction probably txv valve or txv screen.
There is no noticeable drop in temperature across the filter drier.
I am thinking of throwing a TXV valve at it, I bet that will be fun
Any AC experts with some advice

With the evporator coil freezing up I was wondering if they used an evaporator temperature switch that has a probe? When it senses your coil is close to freezing it simply interupts the power going to your compressor and gives your evap coil time to thaw out. Once it senses the temperature is above freezing it restores power to your compressor again.
By the way, it could even be your condensor is not getting enough air flow. Are you using an electric fan for your radiator and maybe it doesnt run enough?
EDIT:
I spoke too soon maybe. I found the Gen 2 manual online and it looks like the AC thermostat has an evap temp switch built into it. It shows where the switchs probe goes into the evaporator. But maybe that part of the thermostat unit is not working like it should. If your evap is frozen but your compessor keeps running it makes me kind of wonder.

good luck
I have 2 16" 3000 CFM fans running when the ac is on
@56panelford "The Gen 2 comes with a binary switch for a mechanical fan, if you have an electric fan you need a trinary switch"
I am going to add a trinary switch, What I have been doing is I have a manual fan switch and I just turn them on when running the AC
@F100supercrew "YOU SHOULD HAVE A HORIZONTAL condenser in front of radiator down low and the width of the radiator and least 12" high"
I bought a "sure fit" Vintage air kit and followed the instructions
