Someone has definitely swapped out the 352 for a small block 302. Probably looking for gas mileage at the time. It's a lot of work to do it right, and it looks to be well done. Get'er running and get to driving. Nice score.
Nice old truck, I'm very happy to see a young fella excited to own an old pickup. Many of us here are near "toes up" , so we rely on you younguns to pass the torch. You've come to the right place, lots of knowledge here....best wishes on the project
I've just always liked older cars and trucks more than newer ones and I don't really know why. Maybe it's the simplicity, maybe its the way they look, maybe I just want to suffer just to get something running... I started researching stuff about the truck months before I got it and FTE kept showing up to answer most of my questions, so I figured why not join so I can get the rest answered. A big reason I want to restore this truck to it's former glory is that the last owner, Gerry, was like a father to me in some ways and I want to enable him to live on through something I do, even so simple as an old pickup.
I'm very grateful for the kindness y'all have shown in helping with the things I've already asked and welcoming me in.
Froze X2 welcome to FTE, X1000 yes great resource for old Ford truck info. You do know that FTE has STATE chapters right? Check out your visitor messages to learn more. And are you coming down to Branson to the OMR (Ozark Mountain Run) ALL Ford truck and panel show in Aug? There will be a few of us Missouri chapter folks there. And a pretty fair amount of Ford trucks to check out.
A very very very long time ago, I had a primer grey 66 F100 w/a swapped in 429... just what a 15 year old kid needed on the curvy back roads of Missouri.
I am north of Springfield and outside the Bolivar area. I plan on being at OMR with the red Bronco again this year. All the vehicles to the right of it are FTE Missouri chapter members. The below pic is from OMR 2024. Unfortunately the owners of the purple and teal trucks will not be there this year.
Yes new vin decoders do not like 11 digit/letter vin's. Most need 18 like new vehicles have. But looks like you got squared away by TA455HO.
