See post #9 at the bottom....
There are proper tools for removal, but at the price and wait for shipping... For a tool you will use twice if you're lucky.

Home made tool

[img alt="Home made windshield wiper nut, made from a worn out 3/4” 12 point deep 1/2” drive socket.
Takes about 5 minutes on a bench grinder, or about 10 minutes of careful work with an angle grinder. "]https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.ford-trucks.com-vbulletin/2000x1504/2715_b0c725ead948ab4da209b9bcd0f7c086edf87f9c.jpeg[/img]

I think I bought mine on eBay - a few places sell it like CJ Pony Parts and Kentucky Mustang - they even list it on Amazon!! Used on Mustangs and other vehicles, too. Looks like they went up about $10 since I bought mine, but it's been several years so not too surprising.

If you have any old junk tools laying around just modify a deep socket with a cut off wheel/grinder, that's what I did, I'd show you a picture but not sure where it's "stored" now
