Econoline desigh refresh!

I just noticed that the E-series has undergone a bold design refresh yet again:

I know, right? Hardly recognizable!

In all seriousness though: I love that in this scene, the only thing that has changed over the years is the looks of the Econoline. No progress on the building. Cranes in the same positions. Clouds are the same, both in the sky and in reflections on the van. Nobody has moved. Not even a grain of sand has been disturbed. The only thing that's changed is the Econoline.

It's usually the other way around!

I'm looking forward to the next major redesign, likely just around the corner in 2044. Blink too long and you'll miss it!

Happy to see they still produce them for 2027 and beyond
It's too bad they quit making rear van bodies and all you can get is a stripped chassis these days for commercial upfitters
Correct me if I'm wrong

You're right, cutaways only. I agree, it was great when they had a "truck" for a van. The Transits are a great line, but there is a low-volume use case for Econoline vans.

Yeah, and they already can over at UHaul, get a rear body-cap included, and be extra-frugal:

I'm surprised we haven't seen a slew of folks doing that already, maybe even doing combo units with small flatbeds for outdoor toys or something like that. This one is listed for $3,195.00 with engine issues, but it runs and idles. Figure out the (probably) rod knock or whatever for a few grand and a person could have a great self-build chassis!

I used to help a guy lay carpet
I doubt you can easily get 3 big rolls of carpet in one of those Transits as easy as a E350
I do like the transits though if you can keep one out of the dealer service department
Been in quite a few on Vacation in shuttles
They sure scoot around nice

There is a rather nice flared fiberglass body, the rear has a gullwing door, no doors on the side, it is like a futuristic streamlined version of the box Uhaul uses, can't recall where I saw it. Now with a friends experience, if you have the know how and garage, you could buy a LWB cut away, and swap an older Econoline body on it, there is a 1980's extended Econoline body that was put on a 2000 Ambulance frame with a powerstroke, he even put the dash and instrument cluster in it, I would love to do that with a 2026 cutaway.
