Okay, I installed my new coils today. They are moog cargo coils bought from CARQUEST. The top 4 coils were made closer together than the rest making me assume they were closer because they were progressive rate just like the Federal Mugal website said.
well with the weight of the truck on them, the top 4 coils are resting on top of eachother. This does not seem right to me. My grille guard does weigh in at 90#, but it only sagged the stock springs 1/2" Also, I replaced the leaf springs in August, but with all new springs,
I still have the 1" sag on the driver side that
I have spent $400 dollars and hours and hours of frustrating work trying to fix. Anybody got ideas or information? Thanks guys
my truck also has about a 1" sag on the drivers side...I was just about ready to replace the coil springs up front. Hopefully some people on here have some ideas...?? Let me know if you figure your problem out.
If you go to an older alignment shop they may be able to order for you a 1" spacer. I have used them before. They go over the top of the spring are horseshoe shaped and made of aluminum.
I saw that too, but I was thinking there is probably some problem with the front end if there is a 1" sag that new coils doesn't fix, and a spacer would cover up the symptom but not really fix the problem. I don't see how the rear suspension could cause the sag in the front...
Switching springs from 1 side to another can help if 1 of them is a little weaker/stronger.You could try a spacer,I put that in the other forum, but that was a different case.Since you have changed rear springs also, I would check body.If the rear sags on 1 side, the whole truck will sag on that side.Used to be common on older Gm's,even new,due to fuel tank.Measure all 4 corners from top of axle to bottom of frame, this might narrow down where problem lies. Not sure what your working on, but if it's 79-older look at cab mounts, look at rubber body mounts no matter what year.
