Replace Coolant Hoses?

I'm around 200K, doing a full coolant flush. Seems a flush was done a while back in the service records, but there is Orange Coolant.
The Original Hoses look ok - I think of changing them but two shops said to leave them alone, they said its very rare for them to fail if they look ok. Ford also said they never change modern hoses unless there is damage. There is no interval on these obviously - but I'm wondering if anyone is changing them.

I thought about this too, I’m hoping to do a coolant flush n some other work this summer on my 09. My hoses are original at 340k km, but everything is tight and dry. My thoughts on it are don’t fix it if it ain’t broke, but I will be saving the clean empty jugs in event of a leak or something down the road and I have to drain the system again.

Are we guaranteed to get the same quality hose today that came with the truck when it was new? I’m inclined to think not as everything original always lasts the longest, at least for me in this particular truck. I won’t be changing mine when the time comes, good bad or otherwise lol

I’m curious what the recommendations of others are, but I personally would be uncomfortable flushing, new coolant, leaving the old hoses on there. If they burst, you’ve wasted your time and money.

I doubt any shop, as money hungry as they are, suggests hose replacement. Not saying not to do it, but it is an uncommon service. With part markups, that could be quite profitable, there is very little labor. Seens modern EDPM rarely fails. 30year old hoses seem ok.

In one way it does seem foolish to do all that work and not do the bottom hose, but I have been burnt by new Motorcraft parts lasting a fraction of the time the originals did. Unless it looks like its coming apart, or damaged at the ends or something I wouldn't touch it. I just don't have the faith in new parts these days. To each their own however.

I replaced the top rad hose on my IDI when I did the rad because it looked ballooned and questionable; that was probly the original hose roughly 25 years old.

The only other rad hose I did was on Dads V10, because the belt driven hydraulic pump had an idler pulley back off and the belt wore into the top hose when it slacked off.

I'm not saying one way or the other, but if you inspect those hoses and they look good and not damaged I wouldn't worry. Split the difference, buy the bottom hose and put it on the shelf

I'd go ahead and have them on hand.

I'd buy the hoses but set them aside and get all you can from original first. I just prefer to have things on hand in the event of failure.

Seems like the hoses from the 90s are very durable. I replaced the 30 year old radiator hoses on my '97 just because they were old. Casual inspection after remocaval did not reveal any weak spots. Nothing lasts forever and being stranded is no fun. The operating climate also plays a role. But many of us experienced the days of bad rubber and plastic products (remember the cracked dashboards?) and this is hard to forget. I think replacement after 20-30 years is cheap insurance.

I tend ti run vehichles longer than most. 390k on my cummins had it for i think 17 years im tired of changing consumbles on the side of a busy freeway in snow storms. Ive done coolant hose a couple times.

I say change it its old and going to fail at the worst possible time. If you own the truck 5 years then change them again. Its worth peice of mind not worrying that wife will blow a hose and just keep driving it till it gets home or goes down in head melting fassion. What you didnt notice the check engine light. Next time you drive it and its clattering on cracked heads. Ughhhh
