That can be left in place. The 6.4L doesn't have it; its in-pan filter replaces it. But if you want to do away with it, you have to do more work and replace the housing with tubing. IMO, I'm leaving it in place.

I blew a transmission line on the road the other day and the repair shop that did the temporary repair topped the tranny off with 'LV' fluid.

It ran great! Unlimited Diesel Performance gave it a light tune. More responsive than before. Sounds great. Easy start. Filled the tank and drove 312.3 miles. Filled the tank again with 15.3 gallons. That's 20.4 mpg. Kept the rpms just under 2000. Doing about 69-70 mph. Very happy. That was without cruise control. Unfortunately, the cruise control shuts off on any upgrade. It was fine on flat surfaces and downgrades. I suspect the brake pedal switch. What are your thoughts?
