I am a 16 yr old boy with a 79 ford F150. i plan on putting a 460 in it. i need the big motor so i can put combine tires on it (already have it ready 4 them). What engine mods should i put on it? What size tras. case should i need? Thanks 4 the help.
the best thing you can do to that 460 is to unleash its potential with a cam, intake, perf. carb, headers, and ported Dove heads or something equivlent.
Thanks, butt i really cant spend very much more money, about $500 more. All the stuff i'v gotten already was free. I got the truck from my cousin, driveshafts from our old dump truck, tires(off course) off old combines, and the motor from a old 76 parts truck. So i really cant go any further without any mulla. Also, how could I build some good off roadung trails on a 400 acre wooded farm?
What mods have you done to get the wheels/tires ready for your pickup? Around here we take old combines and run them in a combine demo derby -- lots of fun!!! Search for it on the net and you should find some pic's.... What size tires are they?
23x126are the tire sizes. all i did was cut the fender wells out, get some Ford 750 axles put under it, and rigged a steering mechinizm up. Also since yesterday,i picked up some hedeman headers (free), np205 t case ($150), and Warn 5000 lb max winch for front and back (christmas present). Thats about allive done to the truck. Also i have got the body painted (spray paint).
i would go cam first and then the intake and carb so you dont have to buy a gasket set to put the cam in after the cab intake up grade or buy the cam and wait till you get the intake and carb to put it in cuz the three have to work together to get the best hp gain
nice find on the headers and 205 and best find on the winches
