1977 f250 rear Diff.

Hello guys, I need your opinion.

When changing the differential oil, I noticed that one of the teeth on the ring gear was a bit damaged. I then removed it to check the pinion gear.

The bevel gear has no damage.

Can I continue driving like this or should I replace the ring gear and bevel gear.

It's a '77 F250

Thank you very much for your help.

Greetings Tobias

That's nothing. if everything else looks okay and it runs quiet I'd fill it up and drive.

Thank you for the answer.
After i removed the Pinion, i found the same Damage on one teeth. The damage is just as minor as the ring gear. I think this happened during assembly. I'll put everything back together and check it often

I can't see the wear pattern very well in the picture, but it doesn't ever extend as far out as that chip. and even if it did it wouldn't matter.

I've pulled Rockwell heavy truck gears out before that were really rough to replace bearings and they still were working fine I had no idea they were in bad shape. if it was not a truck that gets a lot of miles, I've put them back in and they're still going.
