Brake Return Spring

What am I missing, I can’t see where this spring is supposed to go and I didn’t have one when I crawled under Henry. Do I need to make my own 90 degree piece of metal and create a tab to hook spring on?

I found a few pictures, non seem to help with what I have. The service manual shows the end with the spring attached to pedal but not the end that I have no idea where it goes.

You need truck engine components that provide the brake return spring mount. I would be looking at 8RT-6366-A...

Is this referring to a starter plate? Pictures show an extra hole next to a bolt. I don’t see a hole on mine. That’s what I find when I use Google. If I have the wrong plate, I’ll bend a piece of metal and attach it to one of the bolts that will give it the straightest pull.

Yes, the flange and hole on the truck plate is for the brake return spring. The passenger variants, such as 8BA-6366 do not furnish the mount.

That's what I did, because my truck has a Car starter plate, and the hole in the plate routed the spring under the clutch cross-shaft. The spring kept going missing. The clutch cross-shaft seemed to hit the spring and unhook it, and away it went. So I made an angle bracket that moved the spring above the clutch shaft.

ALBUQ F-1, the presence of the brake return spring hole means it is a truck plate. The reason for misalignment could be use of the wrong brake pin. There are two sizes of pin that can be used and two respective pin positions on the pedal. The smaller trucks use 92Y-2489 which is 1/2" in diameter and uses the lower hole. The larger trucks use 91T-2489 which is .435" in diameter and uses the upper hole.

Other factors could be using the wrong brake & clutch pedal bracket as there are a few variants for the different types of trucks. You should be using the 21C-2467 for the F1.

It always amazes me how some just jump to "engineering" over understanding

That’s about what I have planned, will need to get a longer bolt as I only have maybe one thread showing. In the bolt I want to use. Looks like you had the same issue. I was thinking of using part of the metal strap from this, probably need two or three of the holes.

I'm using a hardware store spring that has a longer reach but the same tension.

This seemed to be a bit uncalled for.
