Semi Smog Delete question

I just bought this truck and the previous owner deactivated the smog. He plugged vacuum lines and exhaust lines. The charcoal canister is unhooked as well, but the fuel line is still connected to canister.

Would this cause fuel or vacuum issues?

It can push fuel vapors into the engine bay. I would reattach it to the throttle body.

Having a working carbon canister/evap system is a good thing.

If the carbon canister has been unhooked and left open to allow water to enter, it will now be unusable.

The carbon becomes saturated so now vapor can flow through it and it will need to be replaced.

If the carbon canister is left open, I am not certain how water can enter the canister. Sure, there is water in the air, but that will not ruin a the canister. It's the outside air that purges the fuel vapors so it's designed to handle that amount of humidity. If you dunk in in water, I don't know if it will be ruined or not.

If the PO unhooked it and for whatever reason has taken a hose to wash the engine compartment, water could have entered it.

I’ve been down that road before troubleshooting before.

Charcoal does not go bad from being wet, it doesn't disolve.

Billions of water filters from giant to small are in existence world over.

Pour water out of canister (if there is any), set in sun for a day or two., reinstall.
