bought a 2009 f150 from tx dot . they keep there vehicles up very well. i bought as inoperable , ecm was missing. no records available. 240k miles. i bought a junkyard ecm that matched the 5.4 3v engine. only code after installation was p1622 pats mismatch.no crank no start. security light flashes. i can jump the relay and crank the engine. question is since i have not heard this engine run how much money should i spend to program the ecm to match the vin. and if i do that then pay a locksmith to program the pats. ?? or what do any of you suggest. thanks.
Program 2 keys and do a perameter reset and clear all codes and see what comes up. If it was a PCM matched to vehicle you may not have to do anything else.

You can do this with Forscan and 1 hour of reading/research. See the Forscan topics in this forum. You will save $$ and have a scan tool to use on your project truck.
thanks for the reply. can i program a vin with forscan? without a ford subscription? thanks.
my autel scanner shows 5 keys programmed. p1622 code.
Yes.... maybe. I have not programmed a VIN. I have read Forscan forum posts where it has been done but it may be model/year dependent. The PATS instructions are on the Forscan forum. Search the Forscan forum for PCM, VIN references. It may take some digging but the posts are there.
Here is one forum discussion. It does not explain how to input the VIN in Hex format but it does have some good info from one of the Forscan gurus.
