7.3/E40D noise
Cant really seem to figure out why my truck is making this strange almost gurgling sound whenever I am braking hard, only turning right, and when im reversing on a hill. All of this only happens with the engine warm.
In order to fix this issue I swapped to the hydroboost brakes and they have been working perfectly(havent deleted the vaccum pump yet but will soon), bled powersteering many times, changed trans fluid (fluid didnt look burnt before changing).
I thought maybe the power steering wasn't properly bled because of the noises when im turning and braking but I even vaccum bled the power steering with no change.
At this point I have no clue what is causing these noises to happen. This is my first automatic truck and have never come across this with my trucks with the ZF5.
Attached are a couple videos, one is it reversing and the other 2 are coming to a hard stop.
However I forgot to mention that sometimes when im turning right on an on or off ramp from a highway, the truck seems to almost skip (kind of hard to explain without a video) but kind of acts like a tooth is broken somewhere or the truck is running out of fuel although the truck drives perfectly fine otherwise. Will try to get a video if there are no other suggestions
Look under the rear for a number cast into the diff housing, 70 or 80 for Dana.
You may want to put rear axle up on jack stands, remove the wheels, pull axles out some with drain pans underneath, disconnect driveshaft and hang it by a wire or strap.
Get an dial type inch-pound torque wrench and check the total preload.
If low, worn out bearings.
Carrier brgs ought to have about 15 to 25 in-lbs used. Carrier + pinion = total.
Had to do this last year on a Dana 70U duallie diff. It was way low, 7 in-lbs total. .005" total wear on carrier brgs alone!
Had to R&R the R&P, flush out metal flake sparklies from the diff & axle tubes, set up R&P again.
Truck only had 58k mi on it so it must've been overloaded or towing too much or both.
Then it has been good to go for at least 3600 mi. now.

Several things can do this that come to mind.
Engine harness over drivers side can chafe over time
Somethin in the fuel tank blocking flow
Bad ground on cab to chassis

While in park, the trucks rpm will rise and fall and will drop when i step on the brake hard. I belive my truck suffers from stiction since somedays when its cold it is hard to start so would that have something to do with it? Attached is a video when im in park and slamming on the brake
I should have said when I turn left on an on or off ramp the motor bogs down. That would have been a better term to use.
