Horn won't quit
I have a 1972 F-250. Installed a 61-70 steering wheel. Ground down the tip of the steering column and drilled out the back of the horn button so there is no contact there. If I install the outer brush, the horn blares constantly. If I remove the outer brush, the horn does not work. Obviously something wrong in my wiring. Any thoughts? it is a new harness in the column, there is no pinch in the wires that I can see.

Use a test light or VOM to trace where the power is coming from. Are you using a factory wheel or aftermarket? Some of the horn buttons have a spring clip used to hold them in place. This can be the source of the ground completing the circuit.

excise my ignorance, but don’t I know where the power is coming from if I already know which wire is supplying the horn? Seems to me the issue is that it’s constantly making the connection?

Check to see of the plunger housing is setting vertical. Mine has a tendency to bend over and I had to add a spacer block to keep it vertical. With the wheel off check the button to make sure its not made. Will need a VOM meter to do this test.
