Torn tie rod grease boot.

I thought that I would post this in case someone else ends up with a similar issue. I have a 2025 F350 with just under 12000 miles on it. I was lurking around the brakes and steering components when I was swapping my summer tires back on. I noticed that one of my tie rod ends had grease coming out of it. On further inspection the boot is torn. It is the first joint off of the pitman arm and would be nearly impossible for something to jump up and poke it without doing other damage or leaving more evidence. I am thinking it was defective or improperly installed. I called the dealership while I was laying under there and sent pictures to the service manager. He had to order the parts, and I am scheduled to have it repaired under warrantee tomorrow. I doubt it would make it through another winter of road deicer without seizing up.

I sure do wish that we had greasable tie rod ends, ball joints, and u joints. I will just have to replace them with greasable as they fail once my warrantee is up.

As a follow up, they replaced the whole drag link from the pitman to the right wheel under warrantee. It looked like it was an $800 and change job when I caught a glimpse of their invoice. They ruled it a defective part.
