I don't know about 2017-2019......but yes on the 2022........
ZooDad hooked me up with what needed to be done, the dealer did mine for free.
Shut off auto regen, get a message on the dash at 100%, turn on regen, and go for a drive. Rinse and repeat........
So what is the reason to turn off Auto Regen? I wish my 2019 would at least inform me when it’s doing a regen but there is no indication it’s running unless I park and walk by my exhaust and smell it or see the tail pipe is blueing.

So you can control when regens happen. You can observe the percentage full and delay it until you know you'll be driving awhile so it can do a complete regen instead of starting and stopping all the time. There will be an option on your instrument cluster to check or uncheck auto regen. I always uncheck mine until I know I'll be driving long enough to do one completely or I'll do a static regen.

i use it so that if im getting close i am able to have time to drive long enough to do a complete regen. so going out for a long drive or even a static regen.
So the auto regen inhibits on or off gives you a check box on your dash menu that you can check on or off. Uncheck it and dpf wont regen normally. Check the box and it will regen normally.
My truck will regen at 100 to 103% depending on spot grahams of 33 to 36.
but sometimes if I’m below those numbers and punch the gas going up steep grade it will go into regen.
problem is if I am driving metro traffic with lots of stop and go passengers complain that something smells like it’s burning.
so with the auto regen inhibit on or off check mark I can be sure it won’t regen if I am in stop and go traffic.
when I am going to be on the highway I’ll check the box on. When local uncheck it.
I don’t know how far above 100% you can go before warnings or mandatory actions but I am pretty certain it can go to 106% with no problems.
