I met someone today that has a 69 F150. It has a V8, he didn't know what size. He is not a car guy. He says he has an issue with this truck. It will drive in reverse, but not forward. He said it dies if he tries to go forward. I'm sorry I do not have any information other than that. I have not seen the truck but he did show me a video of it running. Sounded like it was running ok. He asked me what could the problem be. Without seeing the truck in person, I told him no idea. I had a CJ jeep that did this and while I have no reason why....it was the ignition box. I changed that out and the problem went away. Strangest thing I had ever seen. So much so that I swapped them back and it would not go forward. Whenever I let the clutch out it would just die. Anyway, could the torque convertor be the cause? Not even sure if it is a stick or not. All the info I have is it will drive in reverse but as soon as he puts it in drive it dies. Any ideas? Thanks.

Going to need a little more info. I'm assuming auto since he said Drive and not 1st. A wild guess would be a bad/wire somewhere making it loose power. Have him start moving wires while it's idling in park to see if it will die.
I figured as much. I only met the guy the one time. I will see him again in the future and will get more info. Just curious if something in the tranny or torque convertor would allow the truck to actually move in reverse but die going forward? Not sure if it is an automatic, guessing it is though, but could it be the neutral safety switch? I mean he didnt even know what motor was in it. It was left to him by his FIL I think he said. Just maybe looking to see if anyone else has ran into this sort of issue and what the answer or even the cause was.
