Fuel injection issues.
I bought a 1986 f250 2wd with the 460 a couple years ago and i eventually blew the motor up so i decided i wanted to 4wd swap it. I bought a 1991 f250 4wd with a efi 460. I have the full wiring harness from the 1991 since it was a running and driving truck (body was rotten so I didn’t feel guilty about parting it). I have my 1986 cab on the 91’ 4wd frame.
my main question is what out of the efi harness do I need in order to make the 460,e4OD, and transfer case all work with my 86’ cab.
some pictures of the 86’ because why not.
I would think if you have everything from the 91, harness / computer / etc. then it would just be a matter of finding where and how to mount it in your 86 truck.
And when I say EVERYTHING I mean everything front to rear, lights and everything.
I think I would pull the harness from both trucks marking what each plug goes to and lay them side by side.
Because the head light, wiper maybe heater / AC switches plugs would be different you would need to deal with that but dont think it that bad.
Also the fuel gauge will work backwards, dont know about the temp / oil as we have never touched on them before.
It will be work but I think it can be done and how I think I would go about this.
OR
Pop a carb on that 460 and get a standalone computer for the E4OD and you can use your 86 trucks harness and just need to deal with the fuel gauge working backwards.
I think you can maybe use your fuel sender so the gauge works right.
Let see what others have to say.

The 2nd thing you will need is a complete WORKSHOP MANUAL SET (incl) EVTM) for the '91 460 EFI.
You will be making a new harness from the two trucks harnesses.
There may be a free-standing changeover harness(es) aftermarket ($$$).
