McGard is what I use when replacing lugnuts or installing aftermarket wheels. I live in Kansas, lots of salt, brine and whatever else they treat the roads with in the winter. Gorillas (both chrome and black) eventually rust here. Mcgards dont rust and have a lifetime warranty.
Most go with Gorilla if they have OEM wheels. While McGard has quality lugs, I have never seen any made for the wheels on a super duty without needing washers. OEM will last a long time if you never use an impact driver on them.
Look at the negative reviews, 72 hours later rusting, pieces breaking off upon install. Lugnuts aren't something to cheap out on. Just my opinion.
Functionality comes first and looks are secondary to me. My main goal was to ditch the two-piece jacket, a dumb *** design if there ever was one. I get it, quality matters and nobody wants their wheels to fall off, but returns on Amazon are easy so I thought I'd check these out. Happy to report the packaging was awesome, the threads were clean and the chrome plating looked perfect, so I'd say the quality is good so far. I'm not sure what could possibly "break off" of a solid lugnut but, like I said, ask me in a year if I like them. That'll be the real test on the chrome. So far so good though, no rust or scratches on mine, and I'm well past 72 hours!
Yes, the jacketed design is dumb, always has been. Some of the Amazon reviews show pieces, even from the threads coming out or off. If you don't use impacts, the OEM jacketed design lasts a lot longer.
