Has anyone removed their large chrome (plastic) lug nut covers and replaced the stock lug nuts with actual chrome lug nuts? I have looked at the lug nut covers and center caps from RealWheels but I am not a fan of the lug nut covers. I have found some lug nut kits but they only have 32 lug nuts for the 8 lug trucks. If anyone has done this, where did you find a kit with 40 lug nuts?
Quality looks like it might be an issue with those Amazon ones based on the reviews. There was a thread a while back discussing replacing the hub caps with styled lug nuts, but I can't seem to find it now.
Quality is hard to find in anything chrome plated these days. Even factory chrome bumpers are horrible. But I'd imagine these are still better than the cheap "chrome" plastic caps.
I have had mine on for 3 years now:
I also had the same lug nuts on my 2003 dually for 17 years and they still looked great. One key to that is I never ever use an impact on my lug nuts, only do it by hand. Impacts will damage the chrome and then you start getting rust.

if I am not mistaken my 2019 has aliminum washers built into the lug nut . all the aster market lugs I have seen are with no washers or steel waskers. the steel washers will leave an imprint in your rims. the no washer version will guoge the rim.
I would like to see a lug nut with a thinner built in aluminum washer.
For the rear caps you need to drill 3 small holes in your wheels and tap them with 4MM threads, the hardest part was centering the cap on the wheel, I made a jig that kept the cap centered on the wheel to mark the holes.

On my 2019 F350 the factory lugs swivel washer is steel and does leave an imprint on the rim, these Alcoa style lugs the swivel washer is also steel.
20 packs in Black or Chrome for anyone with an F450 wanting to do get rid of the lug covers. I've been thinking of doing it. Think black lugs would looks good but unsure.
I just left the tire store with 5 of 8 lugs on each wheel. The tech took over an hour and a half to get my lug nuts off and his impact socket separated from the ballooned ones.
I ordered a new set on Amazon for $60. Thankfully they didn’t charge me for the $158 extra labor. Now I will have to get the new lug nuts put on or do it myself.

A tire shop should have the oversized sockets to deal with this as it has been a common issue for about 40 years and the set of sockets is less than $100 for SAE and metric.
