Im looking at the Haloview BT10 rear view camera for my RV. The monitor straps on to your existing rear view mirror and is about the same size and includes a dash cam. Im not sure if the clips will interfere with the sensors on the back of the mirror but at the same time I have no clue what they are for...
Many rear view mirrors are self dimming. For that to work, it needs to see how much light is in the front and rear. So if the front is dark, and the rear is bright, then the mirror will dim. If it is daylight, then the front sensor should not dim. Easy to find out, just put your finger over the sensor and see if the mirror dims.
If you have a display going over the entire mirror, then it won't matter.
Report back on how this works. I am looking for a camera and I have not seen any I like. Every year, they come up with something new so I keep waiting.
Thanks. I'll report back. Already bought the BT7 version but have not mounted it until I decide if I like the BT10 better. I hate a bunch of clutter on my dash so when the 7 showed up I did not like the size of the monitor.
Also, anyone know where to get the little pigtail that powers the cam from the mirror its self so I don't have to run wires to the power ports?
I am in agreement. The last thing I need is more clutter and that clutter flying around during an accident. Trying to hide the wiring with all the dash debris is difficult. I tend to look in the mirror when I want to see what is behind me and with a good camera that replaces the mirror sounds like a great idea.

Do you happen to know how much juice you get out of your mirror. Ive seen issues with it only sending 5v when this set up requires 9v......what are you powering with the dongle?

A Rove R2 4K Camera.
“The ROVE R2-4K dash cam typically operates on a low power draw of
5V and 1.5A (up to 3.4A max)via a USB Type-C connector. It uses a supercapacitor rather than a battery, requiring consistent power through a cigarette adapter or an optional 3-lead hardwire kit”
Donger should show you output specs on their “Y” connector
Well roadblock time. Went to mount the camera on the rear of the trailer. It is Furrion Camera prepped meaning the wires and connector are in a little plastic cover . I removed the cover to find the wires pinched between the exterior fiberglass by a piece of wood that is also covering the access hole from yhe inside of the wall. Basically no void available for tucking the connector and wires into when I mount the new camera. I think it is a 1x used to screw the cabinets on the rear wall too... I have no clue how to open up a hole to allow the excess wire/connectors to be pushed in to the void of yhe rear wall..... I dont want to just start drilling into to wood piece not knowing if it would mean a hole on the interior wall.
