Driver Door Ajar ( it wasnt the switch..)

Water had splashed over the DS door a few years ago, with the window down. The problem only happened when the outdoor temperatures were below freezing.

40 degrees F, worked fine. 2AM, 20 degrees F, OK until the door was opened and closed, then persistent fault that did not clear until the temp was above freezing.

Ordinary oil didnt help, must use the special Ford spray lube. Worked the lube in and a few days later, no more problem!

The Ford lube is special, it has a polyethelyne anti friction additive. The Ford manual says " do not use petroleum lube"

What area did you apply lube to? Why did lube help with a freezing up issue? I have the same issue on the rear driver-side door, sometimes says ajar when its below freezing.

I had an issue with the ‘chime’ going off indicating it was the door open with key in the ignition. What I found was that the silver bezel that surrounds the key was stuck. I simply jiggled it and it snapped back into the proper plane and the chime stopped going off.

It was irritating as the doors were closed with the key in the ignition and windows down and the chime was going off.
