Stopping water leaks onto ECU
Stopping water leaks onto ECU
I have an issue where water is dropping right onto my ECM plug, as well as directly onto the ECU itself where it sits in the firewall. I've determined that its an issue with my cowl being clogged for so long that it has rotted and is letting water drip on it (as well as into the cab from around where the hood release is). The rubber drain had a large handful of crap inside so i know the bottom was clogged. I haven't taken my cowl off yet to confirm a clog up top but that's what I think the problem is. Does anyone have any ideas as to how I can stop water from getting on it? For the plug, I was thinking of getting rubber gutters and putting it on the firewall where the water drip is so the water is displaced. But for the ECU, I'm not too sure. My cab has a good amount of rot and honestly I dont think it can be saved. It probably would be more cost effective to find a rust free one and swap everything over. But I'm only 19 and I dont have a shop/garage or a million dollars to do it at so a cab swap really isnt an option right now, so I'd prefer a permanent temporary solution 😂.
Sounds like in your case, you'd be better off removing it from the stock location altogether. It doesn't have to be mounted in there to function properly. It's just a clean cubby from the factory is all. Mount it right to the (plastic) inner fender with a couple straps.
