10R140 in my 2022 fills from a plug on the driver side of the case just above the pan rail, and there is no dipstick.
AFAIK, the truck needs to be sitting level, and I used a pump to add the new fluid to mine.
And, fluid level has to be checked hot with the engine running, fluid should be just running out of the fill plug hole.
Success. I was able to finish it up today. After the trans was up to 195 I pulled the plug and let the fluid out until it was barely flowing. Closed it up, shut off the truck, waited till it cooled down, sprayed some brake clean, reinstalled the heat shields.
Actually, I find it considerably easier. Do it a few times and it's a one and a half hour job start to finish.
Considerably easier than what? A self-provided root canal?
My 2019 has a dipstick and tube to fill it - just like there should be on any truck. It is stupid to have to get under the truck to check the fluid level - especially when the "technology" to check it from under the hood has existed literally since the day the automatic transmission went into widespread use.
Classify it the same as not having a drain plug on the transmission pan - Ford doesn't listen to anyone but their bean counters.
Some dipsticks are hard to read. This is like filling a differential. It doesn't get any easier. Idiots overfill engines and transmissions with dipsticks all the time...everywhere. this, if the lube jocky can read, this job on a 4 grade level at the dealer, Jiffy lube, Wal-Mart, this can't be messed up. I think they designed it for those service "techs". A DIY person like you will take their time and not overfill using a stick. This is for the masses. A diy er is less than 2% of the market.

I just did my second drain and fill on my 10R140. I kind of was frustrated they took away the dipstick when I bought the truck, but the fill port is easy to get the level perfect the first time through the process. I’m not missing it.
