Just picked up my 2026 F-250 Crew cab 4x4 Longbed 6.8 V8 Yesterday..
Through the Process The Salesperson and I confirmed that it was a FlexFuel vehicle.
Well when I was doing the walk around and opened the Gas Cap Cover I noticed it the Gas cap was Black.
So we went to the Service Manager and Asked him about it, he to Thought it was FlexFuel.
Well it isn’t! The Truck is Awesome but living in California with Gas Prices at Close to $6-$7 a gallon, this is why I wanted FlexFuel.
The Dealership is Looking for a Conversion Kit and is willing to pay for it, which is Awesome.
The problem is I’ve only found a kit for the 7.3 not the 6.8 on the American Trucks Site.
Does anyone have any idea of a Company that make the E85 kit for my 6.8?
E85 in California is about $2.79 a gallon and I want to be able to drive it Cheaper.
American Trucks catalog is still being updated on a lot of 25/26 stuff. I went to their vendors site and pulled up one for a 25. I'd call and check compatibility.
Something to remember is that your mileage with E85 will take a significant hit. So while you may be filling up for less, you will be filling up considerably more often. Not saying don't go ahead with it, just be ready to have to stop more often.
When I ran E85 in my old 6.2 the math never came out ahead.
Then again, there was never that large a disparity between 87 and E85 in the sunshine state.
Yeah most places there's only a small difference, MAYBE $.50 between them if you're lucky...around here it's closer to $.25. Would never come out ahead with E85.
If it's truly half the cost around him, though, then yeah he'd come out ahead. It'll take a while though.

If the cost is half, and it doesn't cost anything to get the flex fuel upgrade put in, it won't take any time at all. He'll be saving money on each tank, starting with the first fillup!
Since apparently Ford dropped the flex fuel option any conversion kit will be aftermarket.
I'd be curious if the addition of a kit would affect the warranty.

True - I forgot he mentioned the dealer was offering it for free.
Yeah, Thanks, out here in Commifornia, we’re not as I would say privileged with even the US average in Fuel prices of any kind.
Its as of yesterday in my Area, $5.39 a gallon.
E85 is $2.79 - $2.99 a gallon, I feel I’m on the better side of it costing way less to drive my Truck, oh yeah I do understand about the less MPG, but out here in Grewsome Land and Being Retired E85 makes perfect sense in my Wallet.

Yeah with that much of a price spread it's a considerable savings. Most of us don't have that kind of a spread.

If they can find one… if not, how much would the kit cost?
Are there any other considerations that have to be taken into account with E85, like more frequent oil changes or run a certain type of oil? Fuel filters, etc…? Kind of like “Severe Duty” for the diesels?
