I am looking at two newer trucks to purchase, but the docs I have on hand are only applicable to older ones such as the 2 I have currently.
If somebody could decode these two, I'd much appreciate it.
S34284 = 1973 numerical series, July 1973 production
153 = 153 inch wheelbase
G = Chrome Yellow
L900 = CT900 gas, 39,000 lbs GVWR
4A8
4A = Black Vinyl
8 = (with a numerical first digit) Standard Cab without sleeping compartment, Series 91A (Tilt cab. Cab and chassis vehicle)
No transmission code. This is a special order truck and the transmission was probably part of that order.
MFP
MF = Eaton model 34-DSE single speed rear axles, 34,000 lbs capacity, 7.17 ratio
P = Rockwell (Timken) model FF-903 front axle, 12,000 lbs capacity, with power steering.
39000 = 39,000 lbs GVWR
730407
73 = Salt Lake City District Sales Office
0407 = Special Order Number
SD engines are tough on gas and tough to shop for.
F = 391 4V HD FT gas V8. (Master Parts Catalog says "XD" for '75-'78. Shop manual says "HD" for 700-900 trucks in '77. Info on "XD" below)
V = Kentucky Truck Plant
Z06937 = 1977 numerical series, July 1977 production
153 = 153 inch wheelbase
JC
J = Rangoon Red
C = Special White (also called Pure White)
C807 = C800 gas, 25,100 lbs GVWR (Conflicts with GVWR on the plate, probably due to the special order)
118
11 = Standard Cab Trim-Bench, Blockweave and Crush Vinyl, LT Gray
8 = (with the numerical first digit) Standard Cab without sleeping compartment, Series 91A--tilt cab, cab and chassis vehicle
2 = Clark model 282V five speed direct transmission
FBP
FB = Eaton model 18221 two speed rear axle, 22,000 lbs capacity, 6.50 / 8.87 ratios
P = Rockwell (Timken) model FF-903 front axle, 12,000 lbs capacity with power steering
31000 = 31,000 lbs GVWR. This conflicts with the GVWR given for the model in the MPC and Shop Manual. It was probably due to the axle selections made for the special order--axles you would normally see under a 900 model based on the GVWRs shown for those.

Is this a runner?
Not yet :-) thanks for the decode, matches what I was told for the most part, so that's always a good feeling.
